I feel like reading the bible would make you more libertarian, if that’s what you mean by “liberal.” Libertarianism – advocating the freedom of the individual person and such – is a biblical concept backed up by the fact that God created humans with the ability to make free choices. However, I don’t believe reading the bible per-se would make you more “liberal” in the generic American sense of the word.

Also, true conservatives wouldn’t endorse the Patriot Act (George Bush Jr. wasn’t one) and wouldn’t be against science. However, bible-thumping, generic “republicans” would endorse these things.
